Women’s fashion struggles: Pockets
February 10, 2021
We all know the the struggle of trying to put your change in the pocket of your jeans and when you reach down to the little seam where your pocket is supposed to start, you’re faced with the reality of just having to carry it.
That automatic frustration of the fake, decorative pockets have hit all of us ladies more than once. Most women can agree that we would much rather have real pockets rather than decorative ones, so what’s the point? Clothing designers add fake pockets for the aesthetics and looks of it. It is also known that with fake pockets, they make the item of clothing look natural but keep the slimming factor, especially in skinny jeans.
It’s great to have a boyfriend in this day and age because when you don’t have pockets yourself, you can give your stuff to your boyfriend to carry in what might as well be three-foot deep pockets.
Even when women’s jeans have front pockets, they are made extremely small and sometimes not even big enough to put your hands in. This frustrating feature is likely meant to help the demand of purses increase. The logic behind this is if you cant fit things like your keys, phone, and wallet in your pockets, then you’re probably going to need a purse for better convenience.
Every girl can agree that when you see a dress or even a skirt that you really like and you go to try it on and find out it has pockets, it’s an automatic purchase. It’s a fun and useful design that I hope becomes more common. I know that one day, my wedding dress is going to have pockets.
Pockets are a convenient blessing to the fashion world; and even though us girls don’t always have them, we definitely appreciate when we do.
