Is Miley Cyrus becoming relevant again?
December 12, 2020
Miley Cyrus is a name that most people will know. On November 27th, 2020, Cyrus dropped a new album called “Plastic Hearts.” When I started this story, I didn’t realize how many people didn’t actually listen too her anymore.
“Honestly, I don’t think she is still relevant,” said senior Grant Haynam. “I haven’t heard anything about her since wrecking ball. Every time I hear her name I just think of Hannah Montana.”
Cyrus has been an actress and singer for a long time. She stopped acting because she didn’t like it and just wanted to do music. In an article in Cheat Sheet magazine Cyrus said: “I did one movie and I came back and said, ‘I’m never doing that again. I’m going to do music for the rest of my life.'”
I have always followed Cyrus’ career, and although people may not listen to her music anymore, a large group of people still do.
“I think Miley Cyrus is becoming relevant again because of her new album and how much recognition she is getting off of it from TikTok,” said senior Kyra Woods. “My whole ‘for you page’ is people saying ‘if Miley comments on this I’ll dye my hair whatever color she wants.'”
I then asked Kyra if she had a favorite song from Miley’s new album. “Definitely. It’s ‘Prisoner,”’ she said. Kyra also said if she were to recommend a song for people to listen too it would be “Plastic Hearts.”
My favorite song from the album is “WTF Do I Know.” Her cover of “Zombies” is also really good.
Through the years, we can all agree people change their looks, the way they act, and so much more about themselves. We can all also agree that Miley is not the same person as she was over ten years ago on her Disney Channel Show “Hannah Montana.” She was portraying a character so it wasn’t technically her. I love how confident Miley is even with all the hate she gets from people. She just doesn’t care what they think of her anymore. With her new album out and some songs being played on the radio, she is definitely becoming relevant again.
