Learn To Cook Mac and Cheese

In the age of food delivery services, it is easy to live without knowing how to cook. But, when money gets tight it’s good to know how to cook basic meals. Here are a couple of mac and cheese recipes to get started with.

For this recipe you’ll need:

  • 2 Tbs of butter
  • 2 Tbs of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Tsp of sea salt
  • 1 Cup of milk
  • 1/4 Cup of sour cream
  • 2 Cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 8 Oz of cooked elbow macaroni noodles
  1. Mix together the flour and the sea salt in a bowl. Set it aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter.
  3. Add the flour mixture and whisk to combine. Cook until slightly browned.
  4. Add the cup of milk and mix until smooth.
  5. Add the sour cream and whisk until smooth.
  6. Without boiling, let mixture cook on medium-high until it thickens.
  7. Once the mixture is thick and sticks to the spatula, add the cheddar cheese and whisk until smooth.
  8. Mix in the cooked macaroni and enjoy.

You’ll need:

  • 2 Cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 Cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 Cups of milk
  • 1/4 Cup of butter plus 2 Tbs of butter, separated
  • 2 1/2 Tbs of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 Cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 pinch of paprika
  • 8 Oz of cooked elbow macaroni
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a saucepan, over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup butter, add the flour, and whisk to combine.
  3. Slowly add milk while whisking, continue until smooth.
  4. Add in both cheeses and mix until smooth and thick.
  5. Mix in cooked macaroni.
  6. Put macaroni into a large casserole dish.
  7. In a separate saucepan, melt 2 Tbs butter and mix in breadcrumbs. Cook until browned.
  8. Once the breadcrumbs are browned, spread them over the mac and cheese until the whole surface is covered.
  9. Sprinkle with paprika and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
