Trump Impeachment Trials
January 31, 2020
The date is September, 24th 2019 and Nancy Pelosi announces the impeachment query on behalf of the House of Representatives. This inquiry would carry on in December on the 28th and has charges of abusing his power and the obstruction of congress’s power.
Donald J. Trump has been a topic to talk about for years. Especially with him winning the 2016 presidential election by having the majority electoral college votes. Over the years that he has been president, Trump has made many controversial decisions.
In many people’s minds, the controversial decisions seem to out weigh the more run-of-the-mill decisions. Following these actions Trump was impeached on Wednesday, December 18. He is currently on trial for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. In order to be convicted of the accusations he must lose two thirds of the Senate.
There is also a possibility that if Trump gets convicted and Mike Pence takes over the oval office, that Pence could potentially pardon Trump. If Trump is pardoned then he would be forgiven for all the crimes he committed. Trump’s conviction trial has been a roller coaster of events. The most concerning and recent event is that the White House sent a letter to John Bolton to keep him from publishing his book.
By now this is no new news to anyone who has seen a tv in the past month, but it feels like not everybody knows all the facts about why the impeachment query was filed and why he got impeached in the end. Well for a start he is the Third officially impeached president in the history of the U.S. But the trials are still going on so it is still not clear whether or not he will get punished for the accusations put against him.
The White House has been silencing politicians, authors and witnesses from releasing potentially harmful evidence towards trump’s case. The biggest event that gives us an idea of how bad Trump and his lawyers have gotten is the attempted publication of the book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House By Micheal Wolff, the book lists many wrongs of trumps presidency, but it’s obvious that Trump is trying everything in his power to keep everybody’s mouth shut about whatever it is that happened in the white house. Beyond this one example he also uses his political allies to stop any witnesses from a testimony, because as soon as any evidence is released trump will no longer be the president of the United States of America.
As of January 30, 2020, the impeachment trials have seen tons of publicity and a great amount of steam. As it seems, Trump and his defense team are still ready to send many more cease and desists to plenty of authors to keep his credibility above the toilet at the very least.
