Detective Comics. Batman. Superman, and of course, The Joker. Now, being apart of D.C.E.U. comes with a price. All of these characters were brought out into the world in 1934 by its founder, Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson. These comics are loved by people all across the world, and are constantly being brought up against Marvel. There’s a lot of speculation on which is better; DC or Marvel, Batman or Iron Man. Whichever you prefer, both comics give fans a well-rounded look into the comics imagination and plot lines. DC had begun 5 years earlier than Marvel, giving us such iconic characters as Bruce Wayne, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Catwoman, Aquaman, and more. Each and every character gives these comics it’s own individuality, distinguish ability, and originality.
Even adaptations of these comics brought to life have given hit movies for DC. In June 2017, DC Comics released Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman had grossed to $707.9 million overall. In late December of 2018, they released Aquaman which was given a positive reaction by many, and had earned the title of being DC Comics highest grossing installment, making Aquaman the largest DC movie based on a character. The latest DC installment, Joker, made over $700 million worldwide, and just surpassed Deadpool to become the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. DC has made comic to movie adaptations before, including The Dark Knight Trilogy, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), Justice League, Birds of Prey (2020), Batman V. Superman and a lot more.
Whether you prefer one comic to the other, there is always a way to enjoy an adaptation of characters we all know and love. Directors and movie-goers alike get to see the finished product of something they all have been waiting to see since the comics. Having both of these comic books brought into the world where movies and TV shows can bring these visions to audiences is incredible, always bringing joy to people of all ages.
