Longwell Passes His Way to The Top
October 26, 2019
Massillon Washington senior quarterback Aidan Longwell played his last regular-season home game at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium on October 25, and Longwell made it count as the Tigers defeated the Louisville Leopards 24-0. Aidan left the game in the second half after an injury but is expected to play against Canton McKinley Saturday, November 2nd at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
Aidan took over the starting QB reigns his sophomore season and 47 career games later, he is Massillon’s all time leading passer. The standout senior has surpassed some of the greatest quarterbacks to come out of Massillon, breaking Kyle Kempt’s yardage record of 6,034 and Justin Zwick’s touchdown record of 63.
For Longwell, performing at a high level on the field starts at the off-season. Co-offensive coordinator Jarrett Troxler believes there was one reason for his performance. “He works hard in the offseason by watching tons of film and studying coverages.” Coach Troxler also spoke to the progression of Aidan from when he first stepped onto the practice field. “He has matured mentally, and has gained confidence by playing in so many games.” For such as prestigious football school, breaking a record means a lot. “It’s special to beat out all of the competition before me,” said Longwell.
